WHAT IS TCM ACUPUNCTURE? 

Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) style acupuncture, is an ancient holistic system that regulates mind, body and spirit, improving overall function, rather than treating disease. Regulating the flow of Qi (vital force) in the body, via hair-thin needles, stimulates the body’s ability to self-regulate and allows healing to occur more quickly. A series of treatments focuses on root causes, whilst also addressing symptoms such as fatigue, pain, or other imbalances.

 

We will work together to find and address the root cause of any imbalances or symptoms. You may find that not only do symptoms resolve but also that you have more energy, better sleep, increased mental clarity and an improved mood too. Because TCM is a holistic system that balances the whole person, it is common to experience a global improvement in your state of health and wellbeing. 

 

A series of treatments will generally achieve more lasting results. Think of it like going to the gym; if you want to increase your endurance or muscle mass you need to commit to regular training. The same applies if you are trying to regulate any bodily functions: digestion, menstruation, sleep cycle, stress response etc. Acute complaints can be resolved most quickly, while chronic complaints will take longer.

 

Treatment may include adjunctive TCM techniques such as moxibustion, gua sha, auricular acupuncture, electroacupuncture, cupping, tiger warmers, FAR infrared heat therapy, or Chi Nei Tsang (Chinese abdominal massage). I also combine Body Alignment, Vortex cards, muscle testing, or Reiki as appropriate, and may give you dietary or lifestyle advice to enhance treatment benefits.
